BACTOdent Plus
Why is the BACTOdent PLUS test useful?
The bacteria involved in periodontal disease were described and classified into colour complexes by Socransky et al. in 1998. Depending on the bacteria detected and their respective concentrations, a correlation can be established in terms of clinical severity.
Identifying and eliminating periodontogenic bacteria is essential for targeting the treatment of periodontitis. BACTOdent Plus helps define the treatment strategy to be adopted. Identifying pathogenic bacteria allows treatment to be targeted.
BACTOdent Plus identifies the following bacteria:
- Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (Aa)
- Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg)
- Tannerella forsythia (Tf)
- Treponema denticola (Td)
- Prevotella intermedia (Pi)
- Fusobacterium nucleatum (Fn)
- Parvimonas micra (Pm)
- Campylobacter rectus (Cr)
- Eubacterium nodatum (En)
- Capnocytophaga gingivalis (Cg)
- Eikenella corrodens (Ec)
How to use BACTOdent PLUS
- The sample is taken using a paper tip inserted into the gingival pocket.
- The sample is stable at room temperature for months
Indications
- Treatment of resistant periodontitis in adults
- Acute periodontitis
- Peri-implantitis and prior to dental implant placement
- In children with periodontitis
